The Old Arden Tree

Coming around a dead tree, he froze. A big bull elk snorted at the pair, clashing it’s hooves against the hard ground.
“Let’s go..” Hassun said, turning around, hoping the elk won’t make a move.

I ran and saw Hassun stop. I stopped myself from running into him and stared at the bull elk. I quickly and quietly padded away.

Taking steps back, facing the bull, he glared at it madly.
" If I only had more wolves..." He growled, trailing off in thought while walking away.

I glanced back at it, and saw it watching us. I turned and trotted faster
"But we dont, they are not with us.." i said.

" I know.. If I ever join a pack again, I'll become the lead Hunter and take a bull like that down. One day... " He sighed, keeping a quick pace.

I sniffed the air, and tilted my head
"are you actually in this pack?" i asked as we looked for elk.

" No. Just a Pack Friend. If I was ever in this pack, Pure would kill me. " He chuckled, catching the faint scents of a cow elk ahead.

I shook my head and saw the elk ahead. I got low into a stalking position and crept forwards.

Muscles tight and ears perked, Hassun stalked toward the small elk. The heat from it’s neck could almost be felt in his jaws as he came closer, ready to spring.

I watched it for a moment as a grazed. I glanced at Hassun, then leaped forwards, bitting into its leg.

Jumping and clashing into the cow elk, Hassun snarled and ripped his fangs into it's flank, causing it to stumble.

(Sorry, I'm going to post late for a moment..)

As it stumbled, i felt it kick me. I ignored the pain and let go, and went for the back of its neck.

Locking his large jaws in the soft flesh of the elk's throat, he felt the air supply of the animal cut short.

I let go as it made it last struggle and stared at it panting.

Flicking his tail and tugging once at the throat, he let go and shook out his coat.
" Good Hunting. " Hassun said, sitting down and panting.

I straightened and got my breath
"yeah, we did a good job" I smiled, and felt the pain in her chest where it kicked me ebbing away.

He glanced at her before making the first bite.
" You alright? " He said after chewing the fresh meat.

"yep!" she barked happily and began eating.

With a grunt, Hassun finished quickly, full and happy.
Rolling in the grass, he rubbed the blood off his muzzle then sniffed the breeze.

I kept eating, and crunched through a bone. When i finished, i licked the blood off my muzzle and my paws.

Hassun stood and swished his tail, eyeing the woods around them while he thought.

I looked around at the forest, then at Hassun
"whats wrong?" she asked.

" Nothing. Just thinking of the past. " He sat down, allowing his coat to be pulled and pushed at by the wind.

"oh ok" I replied, and rolled over in the grass, wagging my tail.

Letting out a soft growl, he pounced on Claw, pressing his paws against her stomach roughly before skipping back. His tail wagged in the air with challange.
